Any good recommendations for laptop backpacks?
I'm looking to get a new bag to carry by laptop and a few devices everyday to and from work as well as when I travel and thought some of you reading this might have some recommendations. Features I'm looking for:

Bill Perry is the Senior Services Marketing Manager for Forum Nokia based in California.

I've been asking myself the same question lately. I'm thinking of going with one of these:

It has style and functionality - which I think is a great combination. :)

I used a Kensington Saddlebag for about five years before the market got hot for these bags. They do not make it any longer, but they replaced it twice for me. The first time I wore through the leather, the second time was a freak strap. No questions either time, they simply shipped me a new bag. Incredible customer service.
However, I'm thinking of ordering the recommendation here. Looks nice.

I have a Swiss Army. I love it. Very strong and very padded, but unfortunately Swiss Army website is hard to navigate.

The NorthFace Recon backpack is awesome. A nicely padded back, lots of compartments including a space for a laptop and water bottles. You can even hide some of the unused straps in compartments along the sides. You can find an example here: http://www.backcountry.com/store/TNF0723/The-North-Face-Recon-Backpack-1850-cu-in.html

I am looking for same. Have to have backpack for the ergonomics. Near trying this one out.
It seems to have a very nice laptop section for really easy access. See second picture under the main one for the view I'm referring to.

Just before I took a trip to China this past Xmas, I went shopping for my laptop. I had a new laptop bag, but knew I would be hiking at times and wanted a backpack. I was at Frys Electronics and decided on a Samsonsite laptop backpack.
Very good padding for the shoulders and the laptop area was well padded. It also had tons of extra storage so I could carry all my other gadgets and carry water bottles on the sides.
Here is the link, although it looks like they have changed the model line a little. http://www.samsonitebackpacks.com/laptop.html

A co-worker just purchased the Swiss Army (black with red trim) and it is sharp. He really likes it.
He said it cost apx $60/US
I am not sure how big of a pocket it has though but it seems like it would hold a 15"

Being from Australia I'd have to recommend:
STM
(can hold up to 17" powerbook)
http://www.standardtm.com.au/backpacks
I've been using one for over a year everyday, and it hasn't faultered yet...
And Crumpler:
(weird site, good bags)

Not sure if they are available any more or not (eBay maybe), but there were some backpacks made for the XBox. It's black with a big green XBox logo on it, but it holds lots and is padded on the inside. Has some straps in it to hold stuff down and a pretty big compartment on the outside, for holding the controllers. I use mine on occasion, although I prefer my Timbuk2 these days.

If you are looking for truly ergonomic features and a more professional appearance in a backpack, check out:
http://www.kensington.com/html/4727.html
If you take the product tour, you'll see the feature that I like about it: adjustable lumbar support. It also got a good review in PC Magazine a little while ago. I got mine at Circuit City.

I use a crumpler bag, nicely designed and comfortable carrying experience. I like it better than my previous leather bag.

Have had this one for about a year and a half, still fits exactly like when I bought it. Was a bit pricy then, but well worth it. Can't hardly tell that I have a computer an some books on my back =)

For $30 + S&H you can have my Swiss Army Brief. It is black, comes with two straps - a shoulder strap and a backpack strap, a padded case, and Swiss Luggage ID tags. and of course, you can add lil' storage options for your phone, pda, etc.
I bought it for my wife, she pretended to like it because it was from me. I liked it so much, I bought myself one. Now she uses a different bag. It is taking up closet space in my tiny beach house.
Call it a Flasher discount.
