Flash Lite 2.1 for BREW
BREW phonesYes, you read that right "Flash Lite 2.1 for BREW" is being shown today at the BREW Developer Conference today through Friday and we're very excited about showing some examples of what will be possible with Flash Lite on the BREW platform.

For me this has been and continues to be one of the best mobile Flash implementations I've been involved with over the past several years and I'm very interested in getting feedback from the broader developer community as to what they think.

Over the past month we've worked with a select group of key partners who created some really impressive prototype applications using Flash Lite 2.1 for BREW and the great thing is they also work on Nokia S60 handsets with very minimal changes. That's one advantage of developing applications with Flash Lite.

So you're probably interested in learning more about Flash Lite 2.1 for BREW and what it means to you, well we have quite a few links for you to take a look which just went live this morning:
We'll be providing some additional information on our Flash Lite dev center for BREW developers over the next several weeks but there should be enough data points for you to get a sense of what this means to you.

Take a look at the FAQ for some commonly asked questions and if you still have questions you can leave a comment and I'll reply as soon as I have time this week. Also we've set up a new email alias for anyone to contact us directly with questions about Flash Lite for BREW: flashlitebrew@adobe.com.

Oh and one more thing, we'll be having a Flash Lite for BREW public beta starting on July 3, 2006! If you're interested in participating please send an email to flashlitebrew@adobe.com with the subject "Flash Lite for BREW public beta".

As I mentioned yesterday I'll try to blog from the conference today to provide updates on things.

Great News, wish I could be there to see it.

I'm so glad to hear, "Flash Lite is automatically downloaded over the air at the time the user selects the content, making the handset instantly 'Flash enabled.' "

It's such a pain to require the users to also download the player.

The Brew enabled billing method, sounds like it would work well with existing mobile billing models. It may be able to make a viable business out of Flash Mobile dev yet! ;)

What about updating the handsets of the S60 series. Flash Lite 2.0 is still unable on Nokia N91 for example whereas it works on N90... When can we expect an update about this?

Adding to the S60 series questions - can the new E61 be upgraded to FL 2.0?

**Stephen - yep, it is great news and we're looking forward to developers being able to sell their FL content here in North America.

**chall3ng3r - XML sockets are supported in Flash Lite 2.1 for BREW. We'll have more information about how to use these during the beta.

**bazard - new Nokia Symbian S60 devices (www.adobe.com/devnet/devices/nokia.html) will have FL1.1 pre-installed. New Nokia devices to have FL2.0 pre-installed should start shipping later this year. We're working with Nokia about allowing developers to test FL2.0 content on new and existing S60 handsets.

**anonymous - not at this time. I have an E61 and I'm testing FL1.1 content for the different screen resolution.

**alistair - not sure. It's up to an operator that's a BREW licensee to implement our solution.

I am really thrilled as soon as i knew that flash lite for brew has been launched. But at the very next i am disappointed by knowing that it supports only two devices a950 and vx9800.
I work upon Nokia Emeriging phones. So iwould like to know that is something being done to resolve this, limitation, of the devices supporting flashlite for brew.
Plaese Inform if any developments in such dimension are available or if done later at some time.
I would like to know are there any nokia devices by chance that support Flashlite for brew.
Hope they do.
Any way thankx for launching some such phenomenal product, for some one like us.

Actually there are 4 BREW enabled VZW handsets that support the Adobe Flash Lite 2.1 BREW extension: Samsung SCH-A950, LG VX9800, Motorola RAZR V3c and Motorola RAZR V3m. We're in the process of certifying more handsets and will let the community know what they are on our Flash Lite for VZW development center.

There are 31 different Nokia S60 and Series 40 handsets that have Flash Lite pre-installed. Most of them are FL1.1, but some handsets will have FL2.0 pre-installed - these are not shipping yet. More info here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/devices/nokia.html
