One cool thing about Flash Lite is how many new handsets that are shipping with the 1.1 player pre-installed. Part of my responsibilities at Adobe is to test existing Flash Lite 1.1 content on new mobile phones, create new content and applications and to share that information with the mobile developer community.
These best practices will soon be provided via white papers, technical articles and sample files. Some of the things that we're documenting include:
- Various screen resolutions (176x208, 240x320, 352x416)
- Screen orientation (portrait vs landscape)
- Location of soft keys
- Consistent API support
- Flash content types supported
- Optimization techniques for various media (images, audio, video)

Hi Bill
Thanks as ever for the blogs, if you are interested I am testing on Nokia 3250, a Nokia 6233 and a Sony Ericsson 600i, I have a 6630 runing FL2, I hope to get another Sony Ericsson soon possibly the W330i. Would you be interested in swapping content to test. I have a really nice little app that I created for the BBC plus lots of other stuff . I am concentrating on FL1.1 only
Cheers

You can go on the youtube.com website but to see the flash video it's depend about which player you have. Because On Youtube they use Flash Player 7 or 8 and on your mobile you use Flash lite 1.1. I try whith a nokia E61. And flash lite 1.1 isn't really adapt for video, but whith Flash lite 2 it's now possible. Maybe it's working whith a pocket pc mobile because it's accept flash player 6.
I have a question as well, somebody know when will we see FL2 directly integrate in the mobile ?
thanks

I searched day and night for a mobile pda solution that can zoom in/out and measure a golf course blueprint. I want the golfer to use his/hers pda to navigate through the map which can be displayed via a Windows CE5 IE browser. I finally came across this company called Preface Media http://prefacemedia.com/solutions_locateme.php who offers this LocateME solution. It is a bad boy!

I can't believe devices are still shipping with FL 1.1? Surely that is dated technology and all new devices should be shipping with FL 2.0?
Is there anywhere to get stats on the number of devices in different territories shipping with FL 2.0 either pre-installed or installed by the operator?

What's NOT cool is that you cannot view streamed flash video on the new S60 V3 phones. In fact, I haven't found a way to get ANY video stream of any description to work on E61 or N80. Anyone have any ideas?

that's correct. Video is only supported in FL2.0 and the handsets shipping from Nokia have FL1.1 pre-installed.

Hi Bill
Is there a way to install FL2.0 Player on a brand new N91 before the update S60 3rd Feature Pack 1?
Thank you Jean A. Cloutier

1) Right now we don't have any FL2.0 players for Nokia S60 3rd edition devices.
2) The Nokia E61 has FL1.1 pre-installed and you can view SWF content in the services web browser on that phone. Keep in mind that FL1.1 is based on FP4 so any SWF content that's published as Flash 5 or higher will not show up.

Do you know if/when Flash Lite 2.1 player may be avaliable for download? I see that it is downloadable now from the Adobe store for $9.95 but it doesn’t list the phones I use as supported E series Nokia’s.
Will the 2.1 player ever be downloadable for free? Any info that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Are cell phone manufacturers going to allow updating of their devices to FL2.1? Thanks kindly, Dave
