You may have already seen the press release but I wanted to blog it just in case you weren't aware. As of 25 October, Verizon Wireless started to offer Flash Lite applications and content to millions of subscribers who have one of the four supported BREW enabled handsets. This is fantastic news and I'm really excited about this - and you should be too.Supported BREW enabled Verizon Wireless handsets
Today these four handsets are supported: Samsung SCH-A950, LG VX9800, Motorola RAZR V3c and Motorola V3m. We're working with Verizon Wireless and Qualcomm to certify additional handsets and will list them on our developer site once they're certified.
Flash Lite applications available
There are 8 applications available today:
- The Weather Channel
- MovieGoer
- Jungle Jim
- Extreme Hangman FL
- NBC's The Office Games
- Mini Arcade by Shockwave
- Shockwave Minis Unlimited
- Animated Screensavers
Here is a video clip of me downloading the Flash Lite game Jungle Jim (created by SkyZone Entertainment) on my Motorola RAZR V3c.
So if you have one of the supported Verizon Wireless phones go to the Get It Now catalog and take a look at these Flash Lite applications. As more applications are made available to consumers I'll be listing them here and also on the Flash Lite for Verizon Wireless Development Center. If you have questions make sure to post them in the Flash Lite for BREW forums.

Congrats to you and the FlashLite team! This is a big step forward for Flash on mobiles.
Wish VZW was more open with FlashLite, but their business model is their business.

Any chance (at all) this will work with a treo 650?
I have the verizon network, but I've been told that it's not avaliable for palm devices? Has this changed?
I know there are a few petitions out there.

Hi... I've looked everywhere but I am so clueless so if you could enlighten me, I'd be very grateful.
First, I use Hollywood (Motorola E816) on Amp'd Mobile. I understand E816 is not an officially supported device for Flash Lite, but is there any chance I can still get it, maybe the beta version?
Second, suppose I somehow managed to get Flash Lite on my Hollywood. How am I supposed to install a Flash application on my Hollywood? I am very confused about how tedius and complicated it is just to install a BREW application into your cell phone and how hard/easy it is to install a Flash application provided the player is already there.
Thanks!

Flash applications development and BREW applications development are not the same; hence my question.

I found an answer to my own question.
Certain Japanese cell phones came with Flash Lite 1.1 player preinstalled. And you can just download the SWF file and run it. See, for example, http://appget.com/fl/pc/ which is a directory of Flash Lite 1 applications.
I was hoping that things will be similar with Flash Lite 2.1. In other words, I was hoping that once you have a Flash Lite 2.1 player on your BREW cell phone, you can download and run any Flash Lite applications.
But I guess I was wrong, according to http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=68&catid=611&threadid=1211688&enterthread=y
I am very dispappointed.

///Yasuro - thanks for the link to the Japanese FL content, very cool.
The implementation of FL on Japanese handsets is different than the current implementation on VZW - meaning that in Japan the web browser supports FL, here in the US on VZW it doesn't. For a consumer to view FL apps and content on a supported VZW phone, they need to purchase an application, or purchase a content catalog which aggregates FL content (casual games, wallpapers, screensavers). Basically BREW on the VZW network is a closed system, unlike an open OS like Windows Mobile or Symbian.

Hey guys - Is there a way to play the Flash movie stream without having to go through VCast or other content partners? In other words, can I access the file directly from my site?

Finally a few more FL models are now available. Hopefully VZW keeps on adding them.
